McKinney-Vento 201 – Overcoming Challenges Faced by School District Homeless Liaisons

Attendees will be presented with scenarios derived from real-life experiences of homeless liaisons around the state and work in small groups to determine how the group would solve the challenge and determine whether or not the student meets the criteria for homelessness as outlined in McKinney-Vento law and Texas Family Code. Small groups will also discuss and problem-solve other difficult issues dealing with transportation, dispute resolution, school of origin and other challenges that school district homeless liaisons face.
