McKinney-Vento 201: Navigating Through the Challenging Work of Homeless Liaisons

After a quick review of the requirements for Homeless Liaisons under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), participants will have an opportunity to delve into various scenarios taken from the experiences of homeless liaisons from across the state of Texas. Through work in small groups, attendees will have time to determine if students are McKinney-Vento eligible and work to solve the challenging issues faced by liaisons. Time will be given for sharing and problem-solving of current difficulties related to transportation, dispute resolution, school of origin, attendance, or any other issues that may affect the success of students experiencing homelessness within the district.
